While I admittedly like the RESIDENT EVIL movies, just as guilty pleasure “action” fare, I also admittedly never saw the last one… not because I didn’t want to, I guess I’m just losing interest in the franchise a bit. But apparently I’m in the minority. 2010’s RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE grossed just under $300 million worldwide, the highest of any of the installments so far. So it’s no surprise that director Paul W.S. Anderson and series star Milla Jovovich (who plays “Alice”) have returned to their respective roles in RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION, joined by familiar faces like Sienna Guillory (as “Jill Valentine”), Oded Fehr (as “Carlos Oliveira” – wait, isn’t he dead?), Michelle Rodriguez (as “Rain Ocampo” – wait, isn’t she dead?), Shawn Roberts (as “Albert Weskler”), Colin Salmon (as “One” in this), and Boris Kodjoe (as “Luther West”), and featuring new faces like Kevin Durand, Johann Urb, and Li Bingbing (as “Ada Wong”). The preview, like the other RESIDENT EVIL trailers, starts off looking like a commercial (in this case one big Sony commercial), but soon moves into non-stop action. Like the last movie this one is also in 3D. Check out the video below and tell us your thoughts in the comments. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go catch up with part 4, as there’s no way I’ll know what’s going on in part 5 if I don’t, right?
The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.

RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION opens September 14, 2012
The fifth one did end on a cliffhanger, so seeing it before this sequel is (maybe) a good thing. And the 3D in AFTERLIFE was a lot of fun, so I’m looking forward to catching this one.
Kez, you mean the fourth one. THIS is the fifth.
So is it really a sequeal with flashbacks or is this a prequeal i saw a few charcters that should be dead or zombies.
Oh I’m fairly sure it’s a sequel, and there will be some crazy explanation as to why those characters are back.
its a sequel. and they will explain some events to why Jills evil and what happened during Re2 and RE3. And this is a spolier so dont read ahead unless you wanna know: The scene where you see alice with longer hair and dirty blonde hair holding a little girl thats a clone, they are in a fake raccon city that takes place in the testing facility of umbrella that Alice awakens in. thats why on the poster you see berlin, tokyo and washington and what not all together. Thats why the tagline says Evil Goes Global. this facility is used to test weapons and thats why theyres more clones then just alice, they are used to test out certain scenrios. and Carlos who is also Todd, is Alices hubby in the fake raccoon city and they all die. But Alice finds becky her daughter (a clone ) and protects her.
(There are a lot more twists going on in this movie) but this is one of em.
