Brett Ratner was original attached to direct before being replaced by Marcus Nispel.

Kellan Lutz and Jared Padalecki were considered for the lead, but the role went to Jason Momoa.

Mickey Rourke was in talks to play Corin, Conan’s father, but turned it down to do IMMORTALS. Dolph Lundgren was also considered before Ron Perlman was cast.
