Video Interview: SOURCE CODE director Duncan Jones talks about his newest sci-fi epic

There’s a handful of directors I truly want to talk to, for reasons of respect and admiration.  Ranking high on the list is (and now was) Duncan Jones, who completely blew me away with his innaugural effort MOON.  His newest film is the Jake Gyllenhaal action vehicle SOURCE CODE, opening April 1, 2011 from Summit Entertainment.  Last week, just before leaving Dallas to hit the 2011 South by Southwest Film Festival, I had the honor and pleasure of sitting down with Duncan for a candid conversation about his creative process in the new film.  I’m happy to say Jones is a delight to speak with, and very accomodating with his time.  This ended up being the first of two interviews, as we did an unexpected follow-up at SXSW… which you’ll see soon.  I can honestly say I really enjoyed SOURCE CODE, and I’m in the process of crafting a rather glowing review.  In the meantime, whet your appetite with the following 9 minutes (that’s one minute more than Jake gets to play with in the new movie), and if for some strange reason you still haven’t seen MOON, please rectify that as soon as humanly possible.

Also big thanks to Rachel Parker with DFWLive.org for shooting this.
