Director Kevin Smith’s YouTube interview promoting RED STATE

.

.

If you’re not one of the lucky cities that director Kevin Smith is touring his controversial new movie RED STATE in, the chances are you’ll never get to see his (almost always) entertaining Q&A session that would follow the film.  But thanks to YouTube, you can see Kevin answer many of the obvious questions surrounding the movie, and his career origins and online future.  It’s not terribly long, and there’s some interesting stuff in here.  Notice the obvious missing opening, as the first section of the interview kicks off strangely, not even showing Smith’s entrance.  I wonder why they edited this the way they did, I would have enjoyed seeing it in its entirety, but oh well.  I particularly like Kev’s honest answer on the last question.  So often we see accomplished directors getting asked what the future holds, but Smith puts his reply in a way that is the most obvious and yet least stated way.  Say what you want about the man, but he definitely knows how to make his on-the-mic talks interesting.  Now if only I could get him to reply about bringing RED STATE to Dallas for the Dallas Comic Con this May 21-22…

This first vid is Kevin introducing his YouTube interview.

And the next five vids are the interview itself.

RED STATE opens (we think) October 19, 2011
