THE DARK KNIGHT RISES scouts a new location… and is Robin in it?!

For what it’s worth, we broke this story just after 1am Central Time, yet another site is getting all the source links.  Thanks internet!

.

There’s been so many fluctuating rumors surrounding Christopher Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, his third installment to the popular franchise that restarted with BATMAN BEGINS and continued with THE DARK KNIGHT.  Today a new rumor has emerged, regarding some location scouting… but the strangest part of this rumor revolves around a character well known in the comic realm, but until now not suspected to play a part in the current storyline.  Supposedly Eaton County and Grand Ledge officials who chose to remain anonymous (due to confidentiality agreements) are saying production crews from the Warner Bros. film have scouted locations in Grand Ledge’s Fitzgerald Park last week.   None of these spots are indicative of Gotham City, but they apparently spent time looking at the Ledges and a water treatment plant located inside the park. Now here comes the shocker.  According to the article, sources say the area is being considered as a hideout for “Batman sidekick” Robin.  Now if you’re like me, you’re probably thinking that Robin is the LAST character you’d expect to see in a Chris Nolan movie, but I guess stranger things have happened.  Plus with the recent casting of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, and the speculation that she may only appear in the film as Catwoman’s alter ego, there’s always a chance we could see a dramatic interpretation of Dick Grayson or Tim Drake sans costume.  Then again, someone could have severely misheard something, or jumped to a rather unexpected conclusion.  If Robin winds up in the film, don’t say we were the last to tell ya.

Part of the sudden interest in the Michigan areas is a result from State senator Rick Jones promising to maintain or adjust but not eliminate the Michigan film tax credit.  This would give filmmakers up to a 42% tax credit, if the cut passes.  Grand Ledge is also the location used for the upcoming remake of RED DAWN.  It was reported earlier this week that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was going to be in the movie, though no role was specified.  Is it possible Joe is playing Robin, or some variation thereof?  Definitely something to ponder.  So what are your thoughts?  If Robin plays a part in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, will you cheer?  Throw popcorn?  Stay at home?  Tell us in the comments!  Thanks to Bigfanboy.com’s own Adam Talley for the tip.
