Stanley Tucci cast to create Cap in THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA

Marvel Studios seems to be doing some great work in their casting lately. It was announced a week or so ago that Tommy Lee Jones would be joining THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA, and now we learn that Stanley Tucci is also being added to the impressive cast. HeatVisionBlog is reporting the studio confirmed Stanley Tucci will play Dr. Abraham Erskine in the film. He’ll be side by side with Chris Evans (as Cap), Sebastian Stan (as Bucky), Hugo Weaving (as Red Skull), Toby Jones (as Arnim Zola) and Hayley Atwell in director Joe Johnston’s highly anticipated adaptation. For those unfamiliar, Dr. Erksine (in the comes) was a German scientist responsible for Project Rebirth, which was a top secret experiment that created the Super Soldier serum, which in turn created Captain America.  I’m happy about this for a variety of reasons, but mainly because Tucci is sheer genius, and adding someone like him to a project like this is definite cause for excitement.  His performance in THE LOVELY BONES was nothing short of spectacular.  Now it’s safe to say that the role of Dr. Erksine will likely be a short and sweet performance, but it’s nonetheless an important part.  Are you as excited about THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA as we are?  Tell us in the comments below.
