Seems like Disney’s new favorite thing is taking old animated characters and making updated live action versions of them, and it’s been working out pretty well for them so far. The latest effort to attempt this is CHRISTOPHER ROBIN, which stars Ewan McGregor as an older version of the boy made famous by author A.A. Milne, though he’s now with a family and difficult job. But as the weight of his adulthood bears down on him, Christopher sees an old friend once more… none other than Winnie the Pooh (voiced by the great Jim Cummings). The new trailer below gives you a more thorough taste of what to expect, and we now get to see Piglet (voiced by Nick Mohammed), Tigger (voiced by Chris O’Dowd), Eeyore (voiced by Brad Garrett), Owl (voiced by Toby Jones), Rabbit (voiced by Peter Capaldi), and Kanga (voiced by Sophie Okonedo) and how they look and sound in the film, all brought to life with CGI. The supporting cast includes Hayley Atwell as Robin’s wife Evelyn, Mark Gatiss as Christopher’s oppressive boss, and Bronte Carmichael as the Robin’s daughter Madeline. What is perhaps most interesting about this film is it’s helmed by director Marc Forster, who gave us WORLD WAR Z and QUANTUM OF SOLACE, from a screenplay by Alex Ross Perry and Allison Schroeder. This also shouldn’t be confused with last year’s GOODBYE CHRISTOPHER ROBIN, which was not a Disney production, and focused more on the real life of author A.A. Milne. I will say, these trailers did warm my heart a bit, but it should be interesting to see how this performs with audiences this August. Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
