TRON LEGACY writers already hired by Disney to write more TRON!

We’ve been keeping a pretty close eye on all the TRON LEGACY news, and despite the film being more than half a year away, it seems like the hype only continues to build.  For those in the Dallas area, original TRON star Bruce Boxleitner (who also stars in TRON LEGACY) just joined the guest list at the Sci-Fi Expo this April 24-25.  Well with the sequel still a bit off, Disney made a bold move, and have apparently hired the same writers to pen a third film!  HeatVisionBlog is reporting that screenwriters Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (LOST) have already started writing another sequel to the TRON franchise.

Information is sketchy this early in the game, and there is always the possibility that the film may not be the success we all hope it to be.  There’s not even details on whether or not the story will follow the LEGACY characters, or focus on some we haven’t even seen yet.  But Disney isn’t waiting around to capitalize on the hype.  There’s already a CG-animated series in the works, and the Disneyland theme parks have even decorated their monorail trains as TRON lightcycles.  It’s said that insiders are suggesting Kitsis and Horowitz might be attempting to work the storyline into a trilogy of sorts.  Despite all of this, LEGACY‘s director Joseph Kosinski and the cast members haven’t been pulled into any advance deals, though there were of course options included on their original negotiations.  If LEGACY is a smash hit, there’s no doubt Disney would want to keep the family together in hopes of having lighting strike twice.
