M. Night Shyamalan’s THE LAST AIRBENDER new trailer looking cool

Let’s face it, M. Night Shyamalan needs a hit… bad.  As much as I loved THE SIXTH SENSE, and have a very special place in my heart for UNBREAKABLE… heck, I even liked SIGNS… but I have to say THE VILLAGE was pretty lame, and THE HAPPENING?  Ugh.  Did ANYONE like that film?  Anyone?  Even Mark Wahlberg joked about it when I interviewed him for MAX PAYNE.  Well THE LAST AIRBENDER may just be Shyamalan’s big comeback.  Hard to say, but it’s looking better and better.  This new trailer shows some serious promise.  Imagine HARRY POTTER meets CROUCHING TIGER.  This is incidentally the first adaptation Shyamalan has directed, as all of his other films were completely his creation.  Based on the animated TV series AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, this live-action movie features Jackson Rathbone (the TWILIGHT movies), Dev Patel (SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE), Nicola Peltz, the great Cliff Curtis, Jessica Andres, Shaun Toub (IRON MAN), Aasif Mandvi (THE DAILY SHOW), and Texas-born Noah Ringer as “Aang.”  Check out the new trailer and tell us what you think.

THE LAST AIRBENDER opens July 2, 2010
