When I was a kid, Legos were my world. I got all the sets and built the various buildings and cars they were meant to make, but I also built my own concoctions, and even created environments and characters that the company had no licensing for. As the years went by and I got older, Lego began to produce toys for all sorts of big movie properties, including THE LORD OF THE RINGS, STAR WARS, BATMAN, IRON MAN, just about any popular movie or TV show that exists now. Kids today are so very lucky, as they don’t have to imagine those lego sets exist, they can just go buy them. In recent years Lego has produced some home video releases to coincide with popular franchises, including INDIANA JONES and STAR WARS, and they’ve always been pretty fun. I supposed it was only a matter of time before we got an official movie for the popular toys, and now it’s here… well, just about here, drawing close to a February 2014 release. THE LEGO MOVIE doesn’t skimp on voice talent, featuring Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman and Alison Brie. But the voices aren’t the only impressive aspects of the film, you’ll also get to see Batman team up with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and more of the popular Lego figures we all know and love. Check out the first poster above and official teaser trailer below. I imagine we’ll be seeing more from this, but I’m digging it so far. It’s written and directed by CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS co-directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller (who also brought us the 21 JUMP STREET movie), along with Chris McKay (ROBOT CHICKEN). Tell us what you think in the comments.

An ordinary LEGO minifigure, mistakenly thought to be the extraordinary MasterBuilder, is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil LEGO tyrant from gluing the universe together.

THE LEGO MOVIE opens February 7, 2014
