The new trailer for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is here!

Bootleg versions have been floating around the net for the past several days, but this is one trailer you should see the way it was meant to be seen. Warner Brothers has finally released the new trailer for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, the third in director Christopher Nolan’s trilogy of Batman films which started with BATMAN BEGINS in 2005. This installment sees Christian Bale (as Bruce Wayne/Batman), Gary Oldman (as Commissioner Gordon), Morgan Freeman (as Lucius Fox), Nestor Carbonell (as Mayor Anthony Garcia) and Michael Caine (as Alfred) returning, joined by Tom Hardy (as Bane), Anne Hathaway (as Selina Kyle/Catwoman), Joseph Gordon Levitt (as John Blake), Marion Cotillard (as Miranda Tate) and Matthew Modine (as Nixon). Not a lot is known about the story in the film, though there’s strong suspicions something bad is going to happen to Batman at the hands of Bane, much like in the comics – Bane broke Batman’s back and put him out of commission for a while in the comic storylines. The following synopsis is all that has been released so far

Eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, the terrorist leader Bane arrives in Gotham City, pushing it and its police force to their limits, forcing its former hero Batman to resurface after taking the fall for Harvey Dent’s crimes.

After the amazing success of THE DARK KNIGHT in 2008, it’s hard to imagine Chris Nolan could top the level of quality fans now know him to be capable of, not to mention the general feelings that sequels (particularly third installments) are rarely better than what came before them. Check out the new trailer and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
