Surprisingly tame trailer for 3-D SEX AND ZEN: EXTREME ECSTASY (film that beat AVATAR’s opening day in Hong Kong)

Perhaps you’ve heard about SEX AND ZEN: EXTREME ECSTASY already. The 3D adult movie spectacle has already beat James Cameron’s AVATAR in its opening day box office in Hong Kong earlier this year, and we’re getting it in select theaters in the U.S. starting this month. The film promotes itself as “the world’s first 3D erotic film”, though I think it’s safe to say that title in truth belongs to THE STEWARDESSES (1969, info here).  This new movie SEX AND ZEN is actually a remake of the erotic film from 1995 with the same name.  Check out the strangely safe trailer below.

As a conceited scholar of the Ming Dynasty, Wei Yangsheng believes that since life is short, one should pursue the ultimate sexual pleasure as time allows. Wei Yangsheng encounters Tie Fei the Taoist priest’s daughter, Tie Yuxiang, on an occasion. With the former’s talent and the latter’s beauty, they fall in love at first sight, and Wei Yangsheng is later married into the Tie’s family. Yuxiang is elegant and courteous under the influence of her father’s faith, though her lack of passion cannot fully satisfy Wei Yangsheng’s sexual needs. His disappointment is no less than his affection for her.

Opening at the Angelika Dallas (9/9), and the Village East Cinema and East 86th Street in NYC (both 8/19).
