Disney/Pixar’s BRAVE teaser trailer hits the web

Pixar Animation, never one to rest on their laurels, has released the first trailer for next summer’s CGI tale, Brave. With the success of Cars 2 this past weekend, it seems that the studio is incapable of creating a flop. While that film may be their least favorable creation with the critics, they have still apparently won the hearts of the family movie-goers. They have done this countless times by creating beautifully rendered worlds, engaging characters, fun kid moments and enough adult situations that they keep the parents involved. Their movies always manage to teach valuable life lessons without being preachy, thus increasing their appeal to the family audience. It looks like they are set to once again take us on an incredible journey.

Here is the official synopsis for the June 22, 2012 release from the official website:

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In ”Brave“, a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts.

Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.

Brave is the first “princess” tale done by Pixar, a division of Disney, who has made their fortune on “princess” tales. The film looks breathtaking and while this teaser doesn’t give much away in regards to story, it does the job of getting you interested in what will most assuredly be another Pixar homerun. Isn’t it funny to think that Pixar has built such an impressive resume that many people don’t normally wonder if their movies will be a success, but rather just accept it? In fact, out of the 12 Pixar films released, not a single one has been a flop. Check out the teaser and the movie’s first official poster above and below.

Out of the two films that are in production currently at Pixar, Brave and Monsters University, I am more excited to see what they do with the latter, but then, I loved the first one so I am biased towards it. Now I wonder when they will get around to making the sequel to The Incredibles. We are all impatiently waiting. What do you all think of the trailer? Are you excited to see this one?
