Okay, the Oscars are over, so it’s time to get back to big blockbuster popcorn movies. Two new theatrical posters hit the web this week, both for pretty big movies. First up comes a new one sheet for CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, featuring Chris Evans in his superhero gear but without his mask on. The highly-anticipated Marvel sequel hits theaters on April 4, with a plot that plays off the comic book storyline in which Cap’s best pal Bucky Barnes becomes a brainwashed super-agent working for the wrong folks. There are some things, as a comic fan, you just never thought you’d see realized in a big budget movie. The Falcon is one of them, and I couldn’t be happier that Anthony Mackie is playing him. But what I’m really anxious to see is how Cap is explored in a solo adventure in the modern day world, since the first film was mostly in World War II, and THE AVENGERS gave the character limited screen time.
The film stars Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Samuel L. Jackson, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell, Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie Toby Jones, Frank Grillo and Robert Redford. It’s directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo with a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy–the Winter Soldier.
Next up is Michael Bay’s newest TRANSFORMERS movie, hitting theaters in about four months. TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION, which stars Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing and T.J. Miller. And for those in the know, yes, that is Grimlock that Optimus Prime is riding in the preview. Tell us your thoughts on these new posters in the comments.
