UPDATE: I’ve been tracking this story for a while, and an inside source close to Paul Rudd slipped me some very early test footage of Rudd as Ant-Man. This is a BIGFANBOY.com exclusive, and is embedded toward the bottom of the article. Enjoy!
The gestation period for director Edgar Wright’s take on Marvel’s ANT-MAN has been long, torturous, and filled with years of stony silence. During the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con, Wright showed off a test reel of footage on how his take on the battle style of Hank Pym, but no clues as to who would actually play Pym once the film went into production.
That changes this week, as The Wrap has gotten confirmation from “several sources” that actor Paul Rudd has signed on the dotted line to star in the first film of Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Next on the docket: finding a female co-star for Rudd – and word around the campfire has Rashida Jones on the short list.
The film is slated for release on July 30, 2015, and will be the first Marvel film following THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.
