Ok, I am going to go out on a limb and say that if the full length film GRAVITY from Alfonso Cuarón (CHILDREN OF MEN) is anywhere near as intense as this brand new trailer, then we are in for one heck of a ride.  I’ve been intrigued by the idea of this film for sometime now, much as I was for the film BURIED (a very intense film in my opinion) and even FROZEN.  All of these films put their main protagonists in an seemingly inescapable battle for their lives, one that appears to have no good outcome.  Forced to face your own death which could take hours or days and how the human spirit refuses to give up and go down without a fight makes for a great cinematic experience and as BURIED and in part FROZEN showed us (SPOILERS – highlight to read), they don’t always end with the hero living to the end. (END SPOILERS).  Because of precedents like this, you know going into this film that there is a possibility for anything to happen.

I can’t remember the last time I watched a trailer and at the end, I realized I was clenching my fists.  Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

GRAVITY is directed by Alfonso Cuarón and stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.

SYNOPSIS: Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone–tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

GRAVITY is set to hit 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D theaters on October 4, 2013.
