50 SHADES OF GREY finds its Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele

Fans of the worldwide best selling book trilogy of books, 50 SHADES OF GREY, can rest easy as Focus Features has announced that Charlie Hunnam (SONS OF ANARCHY, PACIFIC RIM) and Dakota Johnson (THE SOCIAL NETWORK, 21 JUMP STREET) will be taking up the mantle of billionaire Christian Grey and college student Anastasia Steele respectively in next year’s adaptation which is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson (NOWHERE BOY).

Charlie Hunnam - 002 Dakota Johnson

To some, this has come as a shock as many wanted Matt Bomer (WHITE COLLAR, MAGIC MIKE) and Alexis Bledel (GILMORE GIRLS, SIN CITY) for the roles.  And when I mean shock, I mean Ben Affleck as Batman shock.  Much like the famous Batfleck petition, fans have started another petition demanding that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson be immediately removed and replaced by Matt and Alexis.

Ok, so can we stop with these online petitions of actors and actresses being cast in parts?  Casting directors do this for a living and during screen tests, they get a good feel for the chemistry between the two leads.  No casting decision is going to please everyone.  It is impossible.  Do we really need to waste time creating petitions?  I would think there would be better ways to spend our energy.

Either way, tell us what you think of this casting below.
