SXSW 2013: YOU’RE NEXT video interviews with director Adam Wingard and star Sharni Vinson

Earlier this year at the South by Southwest Film Festival, I had the pleasure of sitting down with actress Sharni Vinson and director Adam Wingard to talk about their movie YOU’RE NEXT, which screened to a very enthusiastic crowd the night before. It’s an interesting and rather fresh take on the home invasion film genre, and a real crowd-pleaser to boot. The journey of this project was a long one, as it first showed at Fantastic Fest in 2011. Thankfully Lionsgate picked it up this year and is about to unleash it on the world this weekend. I just hosted a Dallas screening at the new Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson, which were over extremely well. In the interest of full disclosure, these two interviews were my last of the festival, and I was ridiculously tired, but meeting Sharni was enough to wake anyone up. She’s a delight in person, very enthusiastic and very personable. We later caught up at the Dallas International Film Festival, and I’m very happy to see her get the spotlight in this production. Check out the interviews below and go see the movie this weekend. Big thanks to Liz Casanova for shooting these for me. Yes, there are some focusing issues in Sharni’s interview, which I believe is the result of sunlight coming in and out of the room while we talked… sorry about that.

When a gang of masked, ax-wielding murderers descend upon the Davison family reunion, the hapless victims seem trapped… until an unlikely guest of the family proves to be the most talented killer of all.

YOU’RE NEXT opens on August 23, 2013
