Press Release:

Kino Lorber is proud to announce the San Diego, CA,  opening of Drew: The Man Behind The Poster, a feature-length documentary highlighting the career of poster designer and illustrator Drew Struzan, whose most popular works include the Indiana Jones, Back to the Future and Star Wars movie posters.

The film is set to open on July 19 at the Gaslamp 15 (in conjunction with Comic-Con), before a New York City premiere on August 16, at Cinema Village.

For additional information, please visit the film’s official site at www.drewthemovie.com

Directed by Erik P. Sharkey (Sexina: Popstar P.I.) and produced by Charles Ricciardi, Greg Boas (co-producer) and Erik Sharkey (co-producer), Drew: The Man Behind The Poster is also a unique look at the art of graphic and poster design, and a rare chance to listen to some of the most important names in US movie industry.

The film features exclusive interviews with George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Michael J. Fox, Frank Darabont, Guillermo del Toro, Steven Spielberg and many other filmmakers, artists and critics; it also spans Drew’s early career in commercial and album cover art through his recent retirement as one of the most recognizable and influential movie poster artists of all time.

Kino Lorber is planning a theatrical release for the film in August 2013, followed by a home media and VOD release during the Fall. The deal was negotiated between Kino Lorber CEO Richard Lorber and producer Charles Ricciardi.

“Witnessing Hollywood legends discuss Drew Struzan’s work really put into perspective what this art form means to me. In his art, Drew has a magical ability to reach out to fan and filmmaker alike and speak to the kid in us all,” says Producer Charles Ricciardi

“It’s been a true honor to make a film about the life and work of my favorite artist, Drew Struzan. Cinema fans like me grew up on his iconic images. I’m looking forward to audiences getting a chance to get to know the man behind those amazing posters,” says Director Erik P. Sharkey.

If all of that wasn’t enough, here is the trailer for the documentary.  I am already extremely jealous of each and everyone of you at SDCC right now and that includes our Editor-In-Chief, Mark.
