Spike Lee’s OLDBOY red band trailer & poster – Josh Brolin gets 20-year revenge on Sam Jackson

Spike Lee has been working on his OLDBOY remake for a while now, and thanks to Filmdistrict we’re treated to the first poster and bloody red band trailer for the film. Josh Brolin takes the lead (my buddy Thomas Jane wanted to do this role), and co-stars with Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley and Samuel L. Jackson. Now I’m going to warn ya, this trailer is pretty spoiler-heavy, so watch at your own risk. If you’ve never seen the original OLDBOY, you missed one of the most intense and rough efforts to come out of Asian cinema in the last decade… I’m actually surprised it took this long for the remake to hit. Tell us your thoughts in the comments.

OLDBOY is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. Co-starring Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley, OLDBOY was directed by Spike Lee, from a script by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, The Cell, Thor). The film was produced by Roy Lee, Doug Davison and Nathan Kahane.

OLDBOY opens October 25, 2013
