If you’re not familiar with the film SEVENTH SON, it’s the first in a series of chilling tales known as the “Wardstone Chronicles” taken from the books by Joseph Delaney. Jeff Bridges heads a cast that features Julianne Moore, Ben Barnes, Antje Traue (“Faora” in MAN OF STEEL), Olivia Williams, Djimon Hounsou, Jason Scott Lee, and Kit Harington. The film is directed by Sergey Bodrov and looks… well, rather ambitious, I’ll say that. Many of the visuals in the trailer appear pretty impressive, so let’s hope the end result is equally stunning. You can see the trailer below and first poster above. It usually doesn’t bode well when a fantasy film like this is released in January, but you never know, it could be a sleeper hit. Tell us your thoughts in the comments.

A 18th century adventure story centered on young Thomas, who is apprenticed to the local Spook to learn to fight evil spirits. His first great challenge comes when the powerful Mother Malkin escapes her confinement while the Spook is away.

SEVENTH SON opens January 17, 2014
