MAN OF STEEL is still kicking butt at the box office, and being that I’m such a big Superman fan, I don’t mind posting info about it even after some of the hype has died down a bit. This video was actually posted last week by Wired, and I meant to post it here then but got sidetracked a bit. One of the cooler sequences in director Zack Snyder’s production involved Jor-El (Russell Crowe) explaining to Clark (Henry Cavill) about how Krypton once was and ceased to be, all leading up to Zod (Michael Shannon) trying to take over, and the planet’s eventual destruction. What made it interesting was the style in which the tech was presented. All through the film, whenever Kryptonian technology is shown, it appears as a metallic, mercury-like and almost organic substance. There’s several directions they could have gone in with that sort of thing, but giving Krypton tech its own unique look and feel was something they obviously took rather serious. Check out the behind the scenes video with WETA Digital masters showing their thought process. And if for some reason you haven’t yet seen MAN OF STEEL… well, what are you waiting for??
