When I was recently asked to cover the Dallas red carpet premiere for THIS IS THE END which was to feature Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, I realized in that moment I hadn’t talked to them in person about a film since their work on PINEAPPLE EXPRESS in 2008. Since then Rogen has been in 12 movies, and Goldberg has written different films that were released three plus some TV work. For a couple of guys who have a reputation for stoner humor, these guys aren’t lounging around. Their new comedy THIS IS THE END is a co-directorial debut, an effort they wrote together as well. It’s a funny look at the end of the world, with Seth, Jay Baruchel, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride and others playing selfish and obnoxious versions of their movie star selves. Those who know the actors and their careers well will definitely enjoy the self-referential humor, which even includes a sloppily put together trailer for a PINEAPPLE EXPRESS sequel. There’s been a few occasions where I’ve covered red carpet events in Northpark Mall, one of the largest and most popular malls in Dallas, but it’s always a little weird for the talent, as they’re surrounded by mall shops and shoppers. Seth and Evan seemed to embrace the silliness of it, and as you’ll see in this interview they’re just as fun to talk to as their work is to watch. Check out the video below and tell us in the comments if you’re looking forward to the new movie.
The comedy THIS IS THE END follows six friends trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles. As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside. Eventually, they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption.
