Being a lifelong dedicated fan of Harrison Ford, I’m always happy to promote anything he’s in, and it does seem like lately he’s taking a few more risks with his acting choices. Movies like COWBOYS & ALIENS and ANCHORMAN 2 are things he probably wouldn’t have even considered 10 years ago. And with the recent announcement of a new STAR WARS movie (which he’s also expected to be in), it’s only natural he make somewhat of a return to the Sci-Fi realm. Enter ENDER’S GAME, based on the bestselling book by Orson Scott Card, an author who has been the subject of controversy recently in the comic book community dues to his outspoken views against gay marriage – card had written a story in a new Superman book for DC Comics, but several comic shops refused to carry the title because of his beliefs. But aside from all that, we finally get to see a teaser trailer today for ENDER’S GAME, which gives folks an idea of what to expect, albeit a fairly cryptic one. Being a huge fan of HUGO, I’m definitely anxious to see Asa Butterfield get another starring role, and Hailee Steinfeld had been due for another big part since her impressive debut in TRUE GRIT. Perhaps the only thing a little odd and maybe even off-putting here is the trailer’s insistence of telling us how all the actors are “Academy Award nominee” or “Academy Award winner” names. You see that in trailers for dramas a lot, but rarely in the Sci-Fi realm. ENDER’S GAME stars Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, Viola Davis, Abigail Breslin, Nonso Anozie, Moises Arias, and Aramis Knight. Check out the teaser trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy, but strategically brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite.
Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult wargames, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham, himself, to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.
Looks great! Thanks for posting.
