Since DISTRICT 9 came out in 2009, many have wondered when we’d see more work from visionary director Neill Blomkamp. His latest project had some heavy hitters with Matt Damon and Jodie Foster, but Blomkamp didn’t forget about his D9 star Sharlto Copley, who this time around plays the bad guy. ELYSIUM has been somewhat of an enigma to movie fans up until now, but the new trailer (below) gives us an idea of what to expect. Video game experts may appreciate the pseudo-mech suit worn by Damon, and the style is very similar to what we’ve seen from Neill before. One thing is certain, 2013 is a big year for Sci-Fi on the big screen, With this and movies like OBLIVION and AFTER EARTH. We have to wait until August for ELYSIUM, but in the meantime check out the trailer below and super high resolution poster above, and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard the government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.
