If you haven’t heard about Harmony Korine’s SPRING BREAKERS, I imagine some parent groups will soon change that. The teen-girls-partying-by-becoming-thieves story nabbed a few Disney princesses in Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens, and paired them with Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine, for what looks like something across between TRUE ROMANCE and PROJECT X. Spring Break clearly isn’t exciting enough for these four girls, so their snap decision of robbing a store for a thrill puts them behind bars. But when a thugged out party man named “Alien” (James Franco) bails them out, the real path to debauchery appears to begin. There’s a new red band trailer out, which shows a bit more of Franco than we’ve seen so far – in a role that will either be brilliant or ridiculously annoying… but I imagine most of the people going to see this will be pulled in by hot girls in bikinis, and morbid curiosity.
I have to say, the movie does look rather intriguing and looks to be an image changer for a few former Disney gals (Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez). Writer / Director Harmony Korine may not have a lot of big name projects under his belt, but this could be one that puts him on the map. We shall see when this one hits theaters in a few months.

SYNOPSIS: “Spring Breakers” tells the story of four sexy college girls as they plan to fund their spring break getaway by burglarizing a fast food shack. But that’s only the beginning… At a motel room rager, fun reaches its legal limit and the girls are arrested and taken to jail. Hungover and clad only in bikinis, the girls appear before a judge but are bailed out unexpectedly by Alien (James Franco), an infamous local thug who takes them under his wing and leads them on the wildest Spring Break trip in history. Rough on the outside but with a soft spot inside, Alien wins over the hearts of the young Spring Breakers, and leads them on a Spring Break they never could have imagined.
SPRING BREAKERS is set to open in NY and LA on March 15, 2013 and will have a full release on March 22, 2013.
