I’m one of those people that genuinely savors the work of Joel and Ethan Coen. Just about all of their films have a special place in my heart, even the lesser-seen treasures like BARTON FINK and THE HUDSUCKER PROXY. It’s been a while since the last Coen Brother directorial effort, TRUE GRIT, came out and (as one would expect) was a critical hit. After a three year absence, Joel and Ethan are back with an interesting look at the life of a musician in 1960’s New York City. INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS is based on Dave Van Ronk‘s memoir “The Mayor of MacDougal Street”, and stars Oscar Isaac, Carey Mlligan (Oscar and Carey co-starred previously in DRIVE), Justin Timberlake, Garrett Hedlund (ON THE ROAD), John Goodman, F. Murray Abraham, and Adam Driver (GIRLS). The Film Stage snagged the trailer (which you can watch below) and a rather snazzy tour poster (which you can see above) for a special screening on film on February 9 in Culver City. While no release date has been set (due to a lack of distributor), expect this one to hit Cannes and the film festival circuit this year, and most likely released in the fall – just in time for Oscar voting. Check out the trailer and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
