Arnold Schwarzenegger says he’s in TERMINATOR 5 – writers confirmed

Back in February of 2011 we reported that Arnold Schwarzenegger indicated he might be in FAST FIVE director Justin Lin’s new entry in THE TERMINATOR franchise.  Since then The Governator has been linked with many other projects, and over the weekend made his return to a headlining role with THE LAST STAND.  He’s already talked openly about sequels on his slate, such as a CONAN THE BARBARIAN sequel and TRIPLETS (the sequel to TWINS).  According to Bleeding Cool, who talked to Arnie at a press conference in London for THE LAST STAND, he’s now telling folks he’s in TERMINATOR 5.  This comes on the heels of Laeta Kalogridis (SHUTTER ISLAND, she was also an executive producer on AVATAR and has a history with James Cameron) and Patrick Lussier (DRIVE ANGRY) being hired to write a treatment for the fifth installment. Megan Ellison of Annapurna Pictures along with brother David Ellison are now actively developing the new installment, however Justin Lin is no longer involved. David Ellison is the one who tapped Kalogridis and Lussier after enjoying their work on another project – it should also be noted that Kalogridis and Lussier are currently developing a reboot of The Rifleman for CBS. With a writing team on board and Arnold saying it’s happening, this may very well be the best chance a fifth film has got. And with Kalogridis knowing Cameron so well, is there a chance he’d get involved? What are your thoughts? Would you pay to see Schwarzenegger in a new TERMINATOR film? Would you pay NOT to see it? Tell us in the comments!
