I loved RED, not just as a comic book adaptation (which was pretty far removed from the source material) but as a fun take on action movie sterotypes. The ensemble of Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Karl Urban and Morgan Freeman was incredibly entertaining, and infinitely better than I think anyone expected it could be. Well they’re all back, minus Freeman and Urban (sadly), but joined by both Anthony Hopkins and Catherine Zeta-Jones, in the appropriately titled RED 2. Oh, and Brian Cox is back from the first film, so let us not forget his endearing supporting role. Neal McDonough and Byung Hun Lee also join the group this time out. Handling directing chores this time out is Dean Parisot (GALAXY QUEST). Up until now we’ve only seen a few stills here and there, but today we get a full (and probably first of a few) trailer to give us a taste of what to expect from the sequel. Check it out below. Born and raised in Dallas, Mark has been a movie critic since 1994, with reviews featured in print, radio and National TV.
