We’ve got a trailer to show you, and it’s a film that’s already on our most-anticipated movies of 2013 list. Michael Shannon, who is pretty much great in everything he does, stars in THE ICEMAN – based on real life contract killer Richard Kuklinski. We first showed you a scene from this production back in August of 2011… well, a scene that got re-shot anyway. Originally the great and underrated Michael Wincott was to play a supporting role in the film, though that role was since re-cast with James Franco (we believe, since Franco is in the new trailer). The role of Kuklinski looks to be an actor’s dream, playing a family man who is a cold-blooded killer on the side. Add in names like Winona Ryder, Ray Liotta and Chris Evans (looking unrecognizable in this), David Schwimmer, and Robert Davi (along with the aforementioned James Franco) and you’ve got what looks to be a winner on your hands. The production is helmed by Ariel Vromen, a director known for his work in Israel – Vromen both wrote and directed THE ICEMAN. Check out the poster above and new trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments. 2013 could be a big year for Michael Shannon, as aside from this he’s also playing the villainous General Zod in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot MAN OF STEEL.

Inspired by actual events, The Iceman follows notorious contract killer Richard Kuklinski (Academy Award® nominee Michael Shannon) from his early days in the mob until his arrest for the murder of more than 100 men. Appearing to be living the American dream as a devoted husband and father; in reality Kuklinski was a ruthless killer-for-hire. When finally arrested in 1986, neither his wife nor daughters have any clue about his real profession.

THE ICEMAN opens May 3 2013
