I’ve been anxiously anticipating SEARCHING FOR SONNY for a while now, not just because it stars some of my favorite actors, but because it looked like a fun and quirky experience… and I was right. The movie is a slickly edited and quick-witted modern day take on classic film noir, and it’s complimented by strong comedic performances from the solid cast, all brilliantly narrated by Clarke Peters. And now everyone will be able to see what I’ve seen, and SEARCHING FOR SONNY will be available this week on DVD, Blu-Ray and VOD on August 28th – the film stars Jason Dohring (CW’s “Vernoica Mars” and “Ringer”), Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights, The Roommate), Michael Hogan (Sci-Fi’s “Battlestar Galactica”) and Emmy and Golden Globe Nominee Masi Oka (CBS’s “Hawaii Five-O,” NBC’s “Heroes”).
SEARCHING FOR SONNY is a hilarious comedy that follows reunited friends, Elliott (Jason Dohring), Calvin (Nick Kocher), Gary (Brian McElhaney) and Eden (Minka Kelly), who find themselves chief suspects in a murder mystery at their ten-year high school reunion. Ironically, the events surrounding the disappearance of their friend Sonny (Masi Oka), is reminiscent of a high school play they once performed, coincidentally written by Sonny himself. Deception leads to scandal and the truth surfaces as the friends learn that shady businessmen and school officials are involved in a complex scheme of money and murder.
