THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN gets a new 4-minute preview trailer. Check it out here.

This is definitely a great summer to be a comic-book fan.  First, we got Marvel’s THE AVENGERS back on May 4th and as of this past Sunday it has already crossed the billion dollar mark world-wide making it the fastest movie EVER to reach that milestone including THE DARK KNIGHT, TITANIC and even AVATAR.  Later this summer we will get the epic conclusion to Chris Nolan’s Batman Trilogy with THE DARK KNIGHT RISES as well as the reboot of Judge Dredd in the Karl Urban starring DREDD but before we get to those two, we have the reboot of the Spider-Man franchise by the appropriately named Marc Webb in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.  Last night, Sony Pictures released, via NBC, a brand new 4-minute preview of the sure-to-be summer blockbuster and it’s just, well, amazing (pun not intended but it worked out well).   You can check out the preview below.

I have to say that the interaction between and Spidey and the little boy in the car is stunning, but I do have one worry for the movie in that I think they may have changed Spider-Man’s origin and taken more of the Ang Lee HULK route in that it appears that part of Peter Parker’s abilities will be a mix of genetic engineering by his father and the bite by the radioactive spider.  I may be wrong, but that is the feel that I have been getting from some of these trailers.  If that turns out to be true, what are your thoughts on this change?

“The Amazing Spider-Man” is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN is set to hit 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D theaters on July 3, 2012.
