BATTLESHIP has a new trailer and poster!

The brand-spankin’ new trailer for next summer’s BATTLESHIP, directed by Peter Berg, has officially hit the net thanks to iTunes.  When we brought you the first trailer, one of the comparisons we made was to the Michael Bay trilogy for TRANSFORMERS.  That feeling is definitely apparent in this new trailer right down to the sounds effects of the movie, the alien force hiding on Earth and even the look of the aliens themselves (well, their armor that is).  The movie looks like it will be exactly what it is intended to be.  A large-scale, summer fest filled with action, CGI and the ability to “turn-off your brain” and just sit back and enjoy the ride.

I find it interesting that they did find a unique way to recreate the game’s playing style in that the alien ship puts up a force field protecting itself over the water, but three of our destroyers are caught inside the field.  This eliminates the outside world from using their jets, missiles, submarines and any other artillery to attack the ships.  Consider my interest peaked.   What about yours?  Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments below.

BATTLESHIP is directed by Peter Berg and stars Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, Alexander Skarsgard, Rihanna, Asano Tadanobu and Liam Neeson.

SYNOPSIS: Peter Berg (“Hancock”) produces and directs “Battleship,” an epic action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Based on Hasbro’s classic naval combat game, “Battleship” stars Taylor Kitsch as Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam, a physical therapist and Hopper’s fiancé; Alexander Skarsgärd as Hopper’s older brother, Commanding Officer Stone of the USS Samson; Rihanna as Lt. Raikes, Hopper’s crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone’s superior (and Sam’s father), Admiral Shane.

Berg directs this epic action-adventure also produced by Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir of Hasbro (the “Transformers” franchise), along with Scott Stuber (“Couples Retreat”), Sarah Aubrey (“The Kingdom”) and Duncan Henderson (“Master and Commander”).

BATTLESHIP is set to hit theaters on May 18, 2012.
